Shore power feasibility study enters second phase
Engineering assessment continues on quayside electrification, a key step in reducing emissions from vessels at berth.

MONROVIA, Liberia — Ducor Terminals' shore power feasibility study has entered its second phase, moving from concept screening to detailed engineering assessment of quayside electrification at the Monrovia terminal.
Shore power allows vessels to switch off auxiliary engines while at berth and draw electricity from the landside grid, materially reducing emissions, noise and vibration in the port area. The current phase examines grid capacity and connection options, berth-side infrastructure, and commercial models in discussion with the national utility and shipping line customers.
The study sits within the terminal's wider sustainability programme, which also covers equipment electrification, energy efficiency and waste management across the facility.
Findings and recommendations are expected later this year and will be shared with stakeholders and development partners.
